Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Essam Fayed and Chinese Ambassador in Cairo Sung Hey Jo on Tuesday witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol on phytosanitary requirements of Egyptian table grapes' exports to China.

The protocol was signed by Chairman of Agricultural Services and Follow-Up Sector at the Ministry of Agriculture Ahmed Abu Zeid and Deputy Chairman of the Chinese General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Shin Jang.

Addressing the signing ceremony, the minister said the agreement is a good step to bolster joint cooperation between the two countries especially in the agricultural domain.

He said the step is a big success for Egypt as it will open a new market for grapes' produce in China, adding that it comes as part of the government plans to promote for Egyptian agricultural exports.

The protocol determines the phytosanitary requirement of the Egyptian table grapes that should come in line with the phytosanitary laws and regulations applied in China and be free of quarantine pests concern.

The minister voiced hope over increasing cooperation between the two countries in all fields, noting that China's experiment in several fields is a model to be followed by several countries
