UAE transfers AED2.6 billion in customs fees to GCC countries
Abu Dhabi - WAM

The total value of customs fees transferred by the UAE to other GCC countries on goods entering through the UAE's customs ports has reached AED2.6 billion.

This amount was transferred during the first two years, through a direct automatic transfer system for customs fees between GCC countries, from end of October 2015 to the end of October 2017.

In an interview with the Emirates News Agency, WAM, Ali Al Kaabi, Head of the Federal Customs Authority, said that the value of fees transferred to GCC countries during the first two years reflects the vital role of the UAE in introducing the system, which involves the automatic transfer of fees instead of a manual clearing process, as the first port of entry to GCC countries.

He added that Saudi Arabia has the largest share of the total customs fees transferred by the UAE to GCC countries during the two-year period, accounting for AED1.3 billion or 50 percent of the country’s total transfers to GCC countries.

Oman received AED456 million, or 17.5 percent, Kuwait AED328.8 million, or 12.7 percent, and Bahrain AED101 million, or 3.9 percent of the total customs fees.
