Beirut - NNA

World Bank President Jim Yong Kim stressed that "the World Bank is committed to continue supporting Lebanon and providing it with soft loans and financial facilities," adding that the Bank has suffered in the past period difficulties in dealing with the Lebanese cabinet due to the long political vacuum period that Lebanon endured.
The World Bank President words were in response to the Lebanese parliamentary delegation questions during the "Parliamentarians Conference" in Washington over the need to activate and haste the aid to Lebanon to lessen the burdens of the Syrian Displacement.
It is noteworthy that MPs Yassine Jaber, Alain Aoun and Bassem Al-Shabb took part in the parliamentary delegation to Washington in response to the World Bank invitation to Lebanon to take part in the Parliamentarians Conference which is organized by the World Bank in cooperation with the International Monetary Fund to activate cooperation between the said two organizations and the parliaments all over the world, mainly in the economic, social and educational fields.
The World Bank President also underscored that the situation in Lebanon has changed lately after the election of a new President, indicating that "the World Bank and many other international organizations have reiterated in various occasions that they cannot help Lebanon except if it wants to help itself."
The Parliamentarians Conference will last for two days. Directly after, the "Spring Meetings"-- which the World Bank organizes on annual basis-- will commence.
It is worth to note that Vice-Premier Public Health Minister Ghassan Hasbani and a delegation from the Finance Ministry and Central Bank of Lebanon would join the Lebanese parliamentary delegation in Washington to participate in the "Spring Meetings."
