EU to start internal preparations for Brexit trade talks

European Union leaders will order the start of internal preparations for Brexit trade talks when they meet at a summit in Brussels next week, according to a draft statement obtained by AFP Thursday.
Despite deciding there is not enough progress to move on to official talks on future relations until December at the earliest, the leaders will ask EU negotiator Michel Barnier and ministers "to start internal preparatory discussions" on the subject.
