Catalan independence declaration 'will lead to nothing'

Spain's central government will make sure that any independence declaration on the part of Catalonia won't have any effect, Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy told daily newspaper El Pais on Saturday.
"The government will ensure that any declaration of independence will lead to nothing," he said in his first newspaper interview since a banned independence held in Catalonia on October 1.
