The United Nations on Friday appealed for international aid for the Central African Republic, calling for help in \"the most forgotten humanitarian crises in the African continent.\" A rebellion in the north of the country and fighting in the southeast between Ugandan rebels of the Lord\'\'s Resistance Army and government soldiers has caused thousands to flee for makeshift camps since 2008. The UN humanitarian affairs office (OCHA) said in Geneva that 21,500 had become refugees in their own country since the start of the year.
