Joint Iraqi forces on Thursday liberated five more villages in western Mosul in northern Iraq on Thursday as part of a wide-scale operation to liberate Nineveh province.

The operation is meant to retake the previously Daesh-held areas in northern and eastern Mosul. 

On October 17, Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al Abadi announced the launch of a large-scale operation to liberate Nineveh province in northern Iraq with the participation of 60,000 army, police, chieftains and Peshmerga forces.
