Ten people were killed and two others wounded in a suicide truck bomb attack in Salahudin province on Wednesday, a provincial police source told Xinhua. The attack occurred in the morning when a suicide bomber blew up his explosive-laden truck at a police checkpoint in the entrance of the town of al-Alam, just east of the provincial capital city of Turkit, some 170 km north of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, the source said. Two policemen were among the dead, the source added. Iraq is witnessing its worst eruption of violence in recent years. According to the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, almost 7, 000 Iraqis were killed and over 16,000 others injured from January to October this year.
