South Tripoli court resumed on Sunday the trial of 37 Gaddafi-era officials, including his son Saif al-Islam, ex-intelligence chief Abdullah Sanoussi and former premier al-Baghdadi al-Mahmoudi. They face charges of killing protesters, committing genocide crimes, triggering off a civil war, sabotaging and looting during the February 17 revolution. In the previous session, the court turned down a request to free the defendants pending investigations. The charges the defendants face could send them to death under the Libyan Penal Code.
