Minister of Fisheries Wealth Awad al-Socotri met here on Saturday with the Country Director of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Mohamed Abdul-Qader . In the meeting, al-Socotri noted to the importance of increasing the financial allocations provided by the IFAD to Yemen in the fisheries sector. He reviewed the fish investment project , is financed by the Islamic Bank at a cost of $ 35 million, noting to the importance of developing the project in the fisheries sector as it is one of the promising sectors for the national economy. For his part, the IFAD’s director confirmed the continuity of the Fund’s support to all efforts aiming to enhancing the role of the fisheries sector in Yemen. On another hand, al-Socotri discussed with Representative of the UN Food Agricultural Organization (FAO) ,Dr. Fuad al-Domi, the necessary arrangements for the third coordination meeting of donors and supporters to the fisheries sector in Yemen. The meeting also touched on the project to improve the quality and the value-added chain of the fish product as well as giving visibility in the coordination meeting for continuing to support the aquaculture and scientific researches. They indicated to importance of the joint cooperation between the two sides .
