World motor vehicleproduction increased by 5.3 percent compared to the previous year rising to 84.1 million units. The International Organization of Motor Vehicles Manufacturers (OICA) said, despite the increase in the production of light commercial vehicles, truck and bus production fell. Automobile production increased by 5.3 percent in 2012 compared to the previous year and reached 63 million. Light commercial vehicle production increased by 8.7 percent in 2012 to 16.9 million while the production of trucks and buses fell worldwide. Motor vehicleproduction fell by 9.8 percent and 1.72 million motor vehicles were manufactured in Turkey in 2012. Motor vehicleproduction decreased in the European Union (EU) and South Korea. However, Japan increased its production of motor vehicles. Production increased in the BRIC countries except Brazil, while the increase in the production in China has slowed down. European Union (EU) production declined by 7.3 percent in 2012 to 16.2 million. The EU region has a share of 19 percent in world production.In the other European region, including Turkey and Russia, total motor vehicle production increased by 11.9 percent due to the increase in Russia.
