Uzbekistan's state news agency said the Central Asian nation has started making regular deliveries of natural gas to energy-hungry China, AP reported. UzA said late Wednesday in a report on a meeting between Uzbek President Islam Karimov and Chinese deputy premier Hui Liangyu that the shipments began in August. The amount of gas being delivered was not specified. UzA said the coming completion of the third strand of a pipeline network linking the two nations will significantly increase natural gas exports from Central Asia.
