Saab of Sweden reports the U.S. Army has ordered radio communications systems for use in live training exercises. The radio communication network systems to be supplied by Saab Training USA will enable soldiers to engage in instrumented force-on-force training at home stations. The orders for three range systems come as exercised options of an earlier Live Training Transformation Interim Range System contract by the U.S. Army Program Executive Office of Simulation, Training and Instrumentation. \"Under LT2-IRS, Saab Training USA is providing a state of art integrated instrumentation training capability at the home stations with a focus on reduced operational, support and sustainment costs\" says Lars Borgwing, president of Saab Training USA. Under the orders, Saab\'s U.S. subsidiary will produce and field three range systems next year at Fort Campbell, Ky., and Fort Drum, N.Y. It will also provide an exportable training capability system that deploys to different training sites. The units are worth about $14.4 million.
