Ukraine is raising its retirement age, bowing to demands from the International Monetary Fund. The parliament Thursday night approved a gradual increase in the age from 60 to 62 for men and 55 to 60 for women, RIA Novosti reported. The law takes effect Jan. 1. The IMF approved a 2 1/2-year, $15.2 billion loan program for Ukraine last summer and released $1.9 billion, but further installments depend on drastic, often unpopular, measures by the government.
