Independent candidate for the Presidential Election of 17 April 2014 Abdelaziz Bouteflika promised to continue the development efforts in the south and to implement all the decisions and measures in favour of the region’s unemployed youth, his campaign director Abdelmalek Sellal said Thursday in Ouargla (800 km south of Algiers). At a popular meeting in a game hall in the city of Ouargla, Sellal highlighted the programme of candidate Bouteflika who gives a “particular importance” to the development in the South, while underlining that the creation, by President Bouteflika, of development funds in the South and in the high plateaux aims at ending all the inequalities in the development of the county’s various regions. He also promised to fight against all forms of bureaucracy, corruption and nepotism which prevent the implementation of these measures. While mentioning the historical aspect of Ouargla province, Sellal particularly underlined the role of its inhabitants who said, on 27 February 1962, no to the policy of the French colonialism which wanted to separate the south from the north of the country. He promised, if candidate Bouteflika is re-elected, to decree this date (February 27) National Day of Unity. Sellal hailed the role of the inhabitants of the South who have always been in the vanguard when defending and preserving the national identity. He ensured that the inhabitants of the South will have their share in the development programmes and the distribution of the country’s wealth like other regions, as it was promised by candidate Bouteflika.Sellal retraced the national revival project which will be implemented by Bouteflika during the next five years, in which the post-independence young generation will take up the torch and contribute to the management of the country’s affairs.
