Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev signed a law on Wednesday to reform Russia’s system of technical regulation and harmonize it with the technical regulation, standardization and certification systems of the post-Soviet customs bloc and the European Union. The reform of the Russian technical regulation system aims to expedite the integration processes in the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan and within the broader Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC), lower technical barriers and facilitate trade and economic ties with the European Union.
