Seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate of the euro area stood at 12.1 percent in November, unchanged at a record high since April, European Union (EU) statistics office Eurostat said Wednesday. In the wider 28-member EU, the overall unemployment rate in November was 10.9 percent, also stable since May, Eurostat figures showed. In both zones, jobless rates have risen compared with a year ago, when they stood at 11.8 percent in the eurozone and 10.8 percent in the EU respectively. Eurostat estimates that 26.553 million men and women in the EU, of whom 19.241 million were in the euro area, were unemployed in November 2013. Month on month, the number of persons unemployed increased by 19,000 in the EU and by 4,000 in the euro area.
