Iran is to host the first regional conference for the facilitation of electronic business which will be attended by representatives of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states. In addition to ECO representatives, senior international experts, high-ranking Iranian officials and ministers, and the ambassadors of neighboring countries will also take part in the conference. The event, which is the first of its kind in the Middle East, will be held on the Iranian island of Kish through the collaboration of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, and the Kish Free Trade Zone Organization. The conference is considered the most important event for e-business in West Asia, the Middle East and the ECO region which will focus on infrastructural and policymaking requirements for promoting paperless business and facilitating trade among ECO member states. Iran is currently has the rotational presidency of the permanent secretariat of Asia Pacific Council for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (AFACT).
