The daily use of mobile banking in South Korea rose 1.8 percent in the third quarter from three months earlier on the back of the growing popularity of smartphones, the central bank said Wednesday. Transactions by mobile banking or banking services accessed via wireless handsets were valued at 1.42 trillion won (US$1.32 billion) per day in the July-September period, compared with 1.39 trillion won three months earlier, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).
