Describing Al Khail Road project a fitting New Year gift, a UAE paper has said the project will be completed in time to mark the seventh anniversary of the accession of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as Ruler of Dubai. \"The last barriers are being removed, the overpasses are getting a final touch of paint and the road markings are all in place,\" Gulf News commented today\'s in its editorial. The works required the construction of four new interchanges and a six-lane highway in each direction as traffic continued to use the existing road. The project was one of the largest undertaken by Dubai Roads and Transport Authority. It effectively provides a third major artery, largely parallel to Shaikh Zayed Road and Emirates Road. Importantly, it allows to lessen the burden on Shaikh Zayed Road and will be a valuable time-saving route for thousands of motorists daily. The paper concluded with a note that everyone involved in completing the project should walk a little taller today, knowing that their work and efforts have given the emirate a key transportation link. Through their efforts, Dubai will continue to grow and prosper. What a great way to start the New Year!
