The Italian navy said it rescued more than 500 migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean from North Africa to Italy during the weekend. The migrants are being brought to the Sicilian port of Augusta, where they are expected to arrive Monday, Italy's ANSA news agency reported. A total of 572 migrants have been rescued by the Italian navy since Friday when a bout of bad weather came to an end, the navy said. The migrants were coming from Gambia, Mali, Senegal, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Congo, Burkina Faso and Sudan.
