U.S. stocks closed lower Friday, on fears over the fiscal cliff. The dollar gained against the euro, stayed flat versus the pound, and fell against the yen. Light sweet crude oil for February delivery lost $1.47 to $88.66 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gold futures gained $14.20 to $1,660.10. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 120.88, or 0.91 percent, to 13,190.84. The broader Standard & Poor’s 500 index lost 13.54, or 0.94 percent, to 1,430.15. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index dropped 29.38, or 0.96 percent, to 3,021.01.
