U.S. stock indexes turned higher Tuesday morning following simultaneous slumps in Asia and Europe. In midmorning trading, the Dow Jones industrial average added 71.35 points or 0.56 percent to 12,886.43. The Nasdaq was flat, up just 0.32 points or 0.01 percent to 2,904.57. The Standard and Poor\'s 500 gained 7.11 points or 0.52 percent to 1,387.14. The benchmark 10-year treasury was off 1/32, yielding 1.598 percent. The euro fell to $1.2711 from Monday\'s $1.2709. Against the yen, the dollar was 79.44 from 79.49 yen. In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 index lost 0.18 percent, 15.39 points, to 8,661.05.
