Tokyo stocks

Tokyo stocks rose Monday after a choppy morning session as the market digested Japan's weak production data while focusing on gains on Wall Street late last week.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 101.58 points, or 0.53 percent, from Friday to 19,387.21, according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 1.30 points, or 0.08 percent, to 1,554.08.
Both indexes fell into negative territory after the opening as the market was hit by a steeper-than-expected 3.4 percent drop in Japan's industrial output in February.
