Tokyo stocks ended 0.47 percent higher in the morning session of Thursday, bolstered by a better- than-expected Japanese machinery orders data released the day. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 69.44 points, from Wednesday to 14,899.83. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 3.02 points, or 0.25 percent, to 1,209. 96. The gain was led by glass, air transport, and paper and pulp shares while shipping, banking and wholesale issues moved lower.
