Tokyo stocks ended 1.75 percent lower in the morning session of Monday, with the Nikkei index losing nearly 400 points at one point. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 259.24 points, from Friday to 14,581.83. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange declined 22.56 points, or 1.86 percent, to 1, 189.10. The decline was led by shipping, pharmaceutical and information and communication shares.
