Tokyo stocks were narrowly mixed Tuesday, pressured by selling to lock in gains after the index's biggest one-day gain in three months the previous trading day. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 38.90 points, or 0.25 percent, from Monday at 15,611.31. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 1.01 points, or 0.08 percent, at 1,256. 33. Decliners were led by brokerage, transportation equipment, glass and marine transport while real estate, mining and utility shares gained ground. The turnover was 1951.3 billion yen (about 18.89 billion U.S. dollars).
