Tokyo stocks finished on Friday afternoon mixed, with Nikkei turning slightly lower after most early losses largely erased by late buying. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 12.74 points, or 0.08 percent, from Thursday at 15,734.46. In contrary, the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 3.00 points, or 0.23 percent, at 1,297.39. By sector, warehouse, real estate and wholesale shares attracted buying in particular, while paper and pulp, insurance and metal shares lost ground. The turnover was 2,327.4 billion yen (about 22.31 billion U.S. dollars).
