Tokyo stocks ended 0.68 percent lower in the morning session of Wednesday as investors locked in gains after the Nikkei index surged more than 3 percent the previous day. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 100.88 points, from Tuesday to 14,742.36. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange shed 6.72 points, or 0.55 percent, to 1,217. 28. Decliners were led by rubber, steel and brokerage issues, while mining, shipping and oil and coal shares moved higher.
