Tokyo stocks gained slightly on Friday afternoon, recovering its early losses led by the weak industrial output data in November.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 10.21 points, or 0.06 percent, from Thursday at 17,818.96.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 6.24 points, or 0.44 percent, to close at 1,427.50.
Major gainers included utility, construction and real estate issues.
The turnover was 1,367.6 billion yen (about 11.38 billion U.S. dollars).
