Tokyo stocks fell 0.67 percent Tuesday on Bank of Japan's decision to downgrade its assessment on industrial production.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 107.12 points, from Monday at 15,783.83.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 5.51 points, or 0.43 percent, lower at 1, 290.89.
Decliners were led by nonferrous metal, consumer finance and brokerage issues.
The turnover was 2013.0 billion yen (about 18.45 billion U.S. dollars).
