Tokyo stocks closed lower in quiet trade Tuesday, as investors moved to take profits mainly from exporters, which have been on a sharp rebound since early this month. The Nikkei Stock Average finished at 8,741.91, down 137.69 points, or 1.55%. Blue chip issues opened lower in the Tokyo market in response to a sharp fall on Wall Street overnight on the back of renewed concerns over Europe\'\'s debt crisis. The benchmark index had been down more than 150 points at one point. After the sell-off, investors headed for the sidelines. Trading value on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange totaled 838.4 billion yen on a preliminary basis, its lowest level since Dec. 28, 2010.
