Tokyo shares opened slightly higher on a weaker yen.
At 9: 15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 37.80 points, or 0.24 percent, from Friday to 15,576.99.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 3.68 points, or 0.29 percent, at 1,289. 75.
