Tokyo shares opened higher Monday with its Nikkei index hitting a seven-year high on a solid Japanese business investment data for the July-September period.
At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 101.05 points, or 0.58 percent, from Friday to 17,560.90, briefly hitting 17,573.91, its highest on an intraday basis since July 26, 2007.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 12.35 points, or 0.88 percent, to 1, 422.69.
