Tokyo shares opened higher Wednesday after the government said the country's industrial output rose a seasonally adjusted 2.7 percent in September on month.
At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 81.60 points, or 0.53 percent, from Tuesday to 15,411.51.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 8.47 points, or 0.68 percent, to 1,260. 47.
