Tokyo stocks ended the morning session slightly higher on Thursday on bargain-hunting after recent sharp plunges, while investors still await an upcoming January report on U.S. jobs due out Friday. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 42.29 points, or 0.30 percent, from Wednesday to 14,222.67. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 0.66 points, or 0.06 percent, to 1,163. 30. Gainers were led by paper and pulp, information and communication, and wholesale issues, while decliners included shipping, rubber and banking sectors.
