Tokyo shares ended the morning session higher on Tuesday as sentiment here was boosted by buoyant overnight performances in the U.S. market with the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 index closing at record highs.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 126.75 points, or 0. 76 percent, from Monday to 16,907.28.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 5.04 points, or 0.37 percent, to 1,365. 15.
Gainers included precision instruments, foods and nonferrous metal issues.
