Spain's prices fell in February by 0.1 percent when compared with the same month in 2013, according to advanced data of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). The INE reported that this fall in prices was mainly due to lower prices of fuel and lubricants compared to rises registered in 2013. The INE will provide more detailed information about the evolution of prices on March 12 when this data will be confirmed. Data released on Friday meant the second fall of prices in Spain as they had dropped by 0.1 percent in October 2013 in comparison with the same month in 2012, which meant the first fall since 2009 when prices had decreased by 0.7 percent. After October 2013, the CPI had experienced three consecutive months of annual rises.
