Singapore stocks finished higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 30.42 points, or 1.03 percent, to close at 2,990.51. A total of 2.25 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 08 billion Singapore dollars (857 million U.S. dollars). Gainers led losers 295 to 152, while 493 others finished unchanged. The STI index lost 5.71 points, or 0.19 percent, to close at 2, 960.09 on Wednesday.
