Tokyo stocks opened slightly lower on Friday morning, as Japan and the United States failed to make a breakthrough in Trans-Pacific Partnership trade talks. At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 53.70 points, or 0.37 percent, from Thursday to 14,351.29. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange declined 2.53 points, or 0.22 percent, to 1, 162.37.
