Tokyo stocks ended 1.94 percent higher on Wednesday, with sentiments stimulated by a weakened yen and overnight gains in U.S. and European stocks. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 307.08 points, from Tuesday at 16,121.45. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange soared 22.98 points, or 1.79 percent, at 1, 306.23. A wide range of sectors advanced with brokerage, machinery and metal sectors leading the way. The turnover was 2,483.2 billion yen (about 23.67 billion U.S. dollars).
