Tokyo stocks ended 0.59 percent lower on Tuesday, with the index declining for the second straight day after overnight falls of U.S. stocks. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 94.51 points from Monday to close at 15,814.37. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 8.90 points, or 0.69 percent, at 1, 283.25. Major decliners were led by the food, warehousing and insurance sectors, while the information and technology, as well as air transportation sectors gained ground. The turnover was 2,209.7 billion yen (about 21.14 billion U.S. dollars).
