Nikkei closed 1.22 percent lower Wednesday. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 114.95 points, or 1.22 percent, to end at the day\'s low of 9,308.35. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed down 10.21 points, or 1.31 percent, at 771.39. Decliners included steelmakers, sea transport firms and brokerage houses posted the biggest losses in percentage terms. Oil distributors was the sole gainer. The turnover was about 1,015.8 billion yen (about 12.41 billion U.S. dollars).
