Chinese shares closed higher on Wednesday, the last trading day of 2014, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index ending at 3,234.68 points, up 2.18 percent.
The smaller Shenzhen Component Index closed at 11,014.62 points, up 2.73 percent.
