FTSE 100 Index, the British benchmark stock market gauge, Wednesday increased by 0.96 percent, or 60.41 points, to 6,337.64 points.

Share price of Taylor Wimpey increased by 3.59 percent, topping the gainers of the blue chips. St James's Place, Compass Group, Rolls-Royce Holdings and Barratt Developments increased by 3.52 percent, 3.43 percent, 3.40 percent and 3.40 percent respectively.

Anglo American led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 7.62 percent, followed by Glencore (3.60 percent), BHP Billiton (2.55 percent), Rio Tinto (1.25 percent) and Royal Mail (1.15 percent).
