Suez Canal expansion

Two Belgian dredging firms, Jan De Nul and Deme, are part of a consortium that has won the contract to upgrade the Suez Canal in Egypt.
According to Belgian media reports on Sunday, the consortium that includes Jan De Nul has won a contract worth 1.2 billion euro.
The consortium that includes Deme has won a 421.3 million euro contract.
The contract includes the construction of a 50 km-long paralell stretch of canal that will enable ships to pass each other more easily. It also includes the deepening and widening of other sections of the canal.
