President Faure Gnassingbe

The Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe on Saturday inaugurated Chinese motorcycle assembly plant in Notse city, 96 km north to the capital Lome, national television said.

The assembly plant of the Chinese company Dayang group will produce over 3,000 Leopard labeled motors per year and will help to reduce unemployment challenge in Togo.

Source close to the Dayang group said that the output will go, partially, to the Togolese domestic market but mainly, to the western and central African markets.

The estimated turnover of the plant amounts to 4 billion CFA Francs for the first year of operation and 7 billion CFA Francs for the second year.

According to Togolese Minister of Trade and Industry, Bernadette Legzim-Balouki, the establishment of the plant in the inner country reflects the excellent relationship between China and Togo.

The inauguration of the motor assembly plant is part of the celebration of the 56th anniversary of the independence of Togo.
