German economy grows 0.7%

German gross domestic product grew 0.7 per cent quarter-on-quarter in the fourth quarter of 2014, the Federal Statistics Office said Friday.
The figure was higher than the forecast 0.25 per cent quarterly improvement, driven by consumer consumption, the office said, dpa reported.
The results took the year's GDP growth to 1.6 per cent, compared to the predicted 1.5 per cent, after strong growth in the first part of the year and a weaker phase in the summer, it said.
