Volunteers of Darb

Acting as a back front providing support to the army members who are fighting terrorists on the frontlines, members of ‘Darb’ project have doubled their efforts during the holy month of Ramadan, cooking fast-breaking meals for soldiers who are on duty.
The kitchen of Darb (Path) has been a major part of the activities of the volunteer group since its inception early 2014 in Lattakia.
Over 40 young men and women have been working at the kitchen, cooking a variety of dishes within more than 500 meals prepared daily for soldiers who are fighting on the frontlines in the northern countryside of the province.
They make sure to make each meal rich in the necessary nutrients.
“It’s not just a matter of preparing food. It is a humanitarian message and a social and moral duty towards those who are defending us,” said Nour Martakoush, one of the volunteers in ‘Darb’ project.
She noted that the team relies mostly on supporters and donors, including those at home or abroad, in funding their activities.
Speaking to SANA youth bulletin, the team’s members expressed an insurmountable happiness at being able to having had a fast-breaking meal with soldiers in mid Ramadan.
“It was such a great honor for each one of us to listen to the stories of bravery and sacrifice of our heroes,” said Dima Makkiyeh.
Among the team’s main activities is providing help to the injured members of the Syrian army and support to the families and relatives of martyrs.
