Algerian vehicle imports in 2013 dropped in value by more than 3.5% and in number by 8.4%, said Sunday Algerian Customs. The amount of car imports reached more than USD7.33 billion against USD7.60 billion in 2012, down 3.54%, according to the Algerian Customs’ National Centre of Data Processing and Statistics (CNIS). The number of imported vehicles totalled 554,269 units in 2013 against 605,321 in 2016, down 8.43%, said the source. This drop in vehicle imports affected car dealers working in Algeria as well as private indiduals, according to CNIS. Car dealers imported 529,976 vehicles in 2013 against 577,637 units in 2012, down 8.25%, for a value of about USD6.65 billion against USD6.89 billion, down 3.60%. Vehicle imports made by private individuals also experienced the same trend in terms of number and value. They went from 27,675 units in 2012 to 24,293 vehicles in 2013, down 12.22%.
